The project of the European Super League has entered a new phase, the organizers of the competition, who want to overshadow the Champions League, presented the plan of the competition, which will unite the big formations of the Old Continent at the start.

As reported by Sport.es, A22 Sportsmanagement (the company involved in the Super League) presented new details of the project.

Among the main changes are: from 60 to 80 participating clubs, a guarantee of at least 14 team matches per season, more divisions and the disappearance of permanent members.

In the new format, the Super League becomes more than a serious competitor for competitions organized under the auspices of UEFA.

Barcelona, ​​Real Madrid and Juventus are still the founders of the new competition, while Atletico, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Milan ” and “Inter” hinted that they would not abandon the project.

In the current format of the Champions League, only the finalists can play 13 matches. The 14-party guarantee means more income to the budget for all participants.

Now the organizers of the Super League are waiting for the favorable opinion of the CJEU (Court of the European Union), the decision on this matter will come in the spring of this year.

UEFA, for its part, announced major changes to the format of the Champions League, this will happen with the edition of 2024-2025 (the European forum should present more detailed information in the next period).
