“By order of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greece provided medical and medical equipment and essentials such as 7500 blankets, 1500 beds and 500 tents which can accommodate families and be used as mobile clinics.
The mission of the first wave of humanitarian assistance to Turkey will be accompanied by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianides and Secretary General of Civil Protection Vasilios Papageorgiou and will depart in the next few hours from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.
The mission is carried out after consultations with the Turkish authorities, with the assistance of the Turkish Ambassador in Athens and in cooperation with the European Commission, in the context of the activation of the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
AEGEAN planes will make five flights to the neighboring country to transport the material and bring the injured people as soon as possible.
It is noted that the cost of transporting materials to be provided will be covered by 75% of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, and the remaining 25% of the national contribution will be sponsored by AEGEAN.
It is recalled that Greece immediately took the side of the earthquake victims in Turkey, having two search and rescue teams that support operations in the neighboring country from the first moment.
