
French President Emmanuel Macron’s approval rating continues to fall and demonstrations against his pension reforms are on the rise, according to a poll published on Tuesday, Agerpres quoted Agerpres as saying.
Thus, according to a poll conducted by Ifop-Fiducial, Emmanuel Macron lost another two percentage points in popularity, reaching 34% approval, his worst result since March 2020.
For her part, French Prime Minister Élisabeth Bourne, who is at the forefront of pension reform, is registering an even more significant decline: minus 4 percentage points compared to last month, currently with 31% approval ratings.
According to this poll, only 38% of French people believe that the president of the republic is “capable of reforming the country”, which is two percentage points less than last month.
The French perceive the head of government as “tough”: only 27% see her as “open to dialogue”, a drop of eight percentage points in one month.
Since September, the executive’s approval rating has continued to fall, especially among people active in the labor market, where it stands at just 29% for Emmanuel Macron and 24% for Elisabeth Borne.
This poll was conducted on February 1-2, 2023, on a sample of 1,012 representative people of the French population aged 18 and over using a quota method with a margin of error of 1.4 to 3.1 percentage points.
