In an interview with CNN, the head of Ukraine’s national security, Oleksiy Danilov, hinted that his country could strike on the territory of Russia, and not only on the invasion forces sent by Vladimir Putin to Ukraine.

“As for Russian territory, no one forbids us to destroy targets with Ukrainian-made weapons. Do we have such a weapon? Yes, we have,” Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said on Monday.

His statement was made against the background of the fact that the allies, who supplied Ukraine with weapons, made it a condition not to use them to attack the territory of the Russian Federation.

Despite the fact that during the war, inexplicable explosions often occurred at strategic points in Russia, Ukraine has never publicly acknowledged responsibility for these strikes.

At the beginning of this year, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) Kyrylo Budanov did not rule out that other attacks could take place on the territory of Russia, in addition to those that have already taken place. took place without specifying whether Ukrainian forces would be behind them.

The head of the GUR stated that “attacks will go deeper and deeper” inside Russia, although he wanted to clarify that in any case he would not be able to talk about his country’s responsibility for these incidents until the end of the war. .

A week ago, US officials announced a new package of military aid to Kyiv worth about $2.2 billion, which for the first time will include Ground Launched Small Diameter Bombs (GLSDB). which plan to targets at a distance of up to 150 kilometers and can be launched from salvo fire systems that Ukraine has already received from its Western allies.

They provide a significant increase in the range of HIMARS launchers by 80 kilometers, which have already changed the course of the war.

In particular, Ukraine asked the US for ATACMS missiles, which are launched from HIMARS launchers and have a range of about 300 kilometers, which will allow the Ukrainian army to hit Russian targets also in Crimea and on the territory of Russia. But Washington still refuses to hand over these missiles.

It should be noted that at the beginning of December, one of the largest conglomerates of the Ukrainian arms industry, Ukroboronprom, announced the completion of several successful tests of an attack drone with a range of 1,000 kilometers.
