Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared seven days of national mourning following deadly earthquakes that killed thousands in southeast Turkey and northwest Syria.

“In connection with the earthquake that occurred in our country on February 6, a nationwide seven-day mourning was declared. Our flag will be flown at half mast before sunset on Sunday, February 12, across the country and over the buildings of Turkish delegations abroad,” Erdogan wrote on Twitter.
