The Greek humanitarian mission, which took off this morning on a C-130 aircraft from Elefsina Airport, arrived at Incirlik Air Base.
The mission consists of a team of 21 firefighters from the 1st EMAK, two rescue dogs and a special rescue vehicle. The team is also accompanied by a fire brigade engineer officer with experience supporting columns in the ruins of collapsed buildings, 5 doctors and rescuers from EKAV, as well as OASP President Efthymios Lekkas.
The Greek delegation arrived at the Incirlik Air Base outside Adana and is then expected to travel by road to a city in southeastern Turkey close to the Syrian border.
The all-round assistance of the country in the efforts to eliminate the consequences of the devastating earthquake in order to save lives was noted, in particular, by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis in his post on social networks, and the Turkish Embassy in Athens responded by expressing gratitude for the response and messages of solidarity.
“The Greek mission is ready to take off to provide assistance to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey. We are doing our best to assist efforts to eliminate the consequences of a devastating earthquake in order to save lives,” Mr. Stylianides said in a statement.
“Thank you for your immediate response and words of solidarity with Turkey after the devastating earthquake that hit our country,” the Turkish embassy in Athens said on social media.
