
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced on Monday evening, in connection with the assistance and consular protection measures provided to Romanian citizens affected by the earthquakes in Turkey, that eight people – five students and three teachers – were successfully put on board for repatriation from Adana Airport, Turkey. Two Polish citizens were also on board the same plane.
“This evening, eight Romanian citizens were successfully repatriated from Adana Airport, Republic of Turkey, by a MApN humanitarian flight organized as part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Emergency Situations Support Mission. Two Polish citizens were also on board the same plane,” the IAE said in a statement.
According to the cited source, representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Ankara and the mobile consular team “are in constant contact with the competent authorities of Romania and Turkey to coordinate and establish all the details necessary for the safe repatriation of Romanian citizens.”
Eight Romanian citizens – five students and three teachers – were in Adana and were asked to be repatriated. “The Romanian Embassy in Ankara has taken all necessary measures to receive the plane and transport it safely to Romania. Once they arrive in Romania, IGSU will meet the passengers and transport them to their hometowns,” MAE said.

The Embassy of Romania has currently received 11 requests for information and consular assistance
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that at the moment, a total of 11 requests for information and consular assistance have been received at the level of the Romanian Embassy in Ankara.
“Employees of the Embassy of Romania in Ankara continue the dialogue with the Turkish authorities and are in contact with the Romanian citizens who requested help, the necessary steps are being taken to determine the ways of their repatriation or to provide another type of consular support, as the case may be,” the ministry said.
The MAE reiterates the recommendation addressed to Romanian citizens in the earthquake-affected areas to obtain information from official sources on the development of the situation on the ground and to follow the instructions of the Turkish authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reminds that Romanian citizens can seek consular assistance at the following phone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Ankara: +90.312.447.7945 and +90.312.447.7940, calls are forwarded to the Contact and Support Center for Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and Call Center operators always answer. At the same time, Romanian citizens have at their disposal the emergency telephone number of the consular department in Ankara: +90.532.318.1726.
