Sakellaropoulou: We support the work of rescue teams

The President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, said this morning that she was shocked by the destruction caused by the strong earthquake in Turkey and Syria and expressed her deepest condolences, as well as the condolences of the Greek people, to the families of the victims. .

Contacts Dendia – Tsavusoglu

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias previously contacted Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu to convey his condolences and the country’s willingness to support Turkey.

“After the devastating earthquake in southern Turkey, I contacted my Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and conveyed my condolences to the families of the victims,” the Foreign Minister wrote on Twitter.

“I expressed Greece’s readiness to provide immediate assistance in conducting rescue investigations and repairing the damage,” added Mr. Dendias.

Team of the 1st EMAK in Turkey

Meanwhile, it became known that a group of 21 firefighters from the 1st EMAKwith two rescue dogs and a special rescue vehicle, goes to Turkey as a rescue mission after a strong earthquake.

The team is accompanied by a fire protection engineer officer with experience in reinforcing the ruins of a collapsed building, 5 doctors and rescuers from EKAV, and OASP President Efthymios Lekkas.
