The former Minister of Defense of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Ihor Girkin, who unsuccessfully tried to return to the front in Ukraine, was left without a job and without a source of income, reports The Moscow Times.

“Doesn’t anyone have a job for me? I have been out of work for six months,” Girkin admitted at the meeting.

Girkin claims that he went to all kinds of authorities several times with a request to fight in Ukraine, but was refused everywhere. “The same Wagner – at least they pay something there… Not that this is the most important indicator for me – of course, the last one – but still,” complained the former commander of the separatists.

He did not sign a contract with the Wagner Group

In early December, Girkin announced his return to Moscow after a second unsuccessful attempt to volunteer for the Ukrainian front.

In Donetsk, he “tried to fulfill the duties of a battalion chief” for ten days until he found out that he was on duty and officially “not listed”.

After that, Girkin tried to negotiate with Wagner’s mercenary group, but after a dispute with its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin, he refused to sign the contract.

The founder of the “Wagner Group” Yevgeny Prigozhin invited the former commander of the Donbas separatists Igor Girkin (call sign Strelkov) to join his troops in Ukraine to confirm his combat experience, reports “Ukrainian Pravda”.

Now he sees himself as a politician

After returning from the front, Girkin said that he would no longer “beat his head against the wall” to join the ranks of the military fighting in Ukraine, but would start “looking for a job in the political field.”

In 2017, the former commander of the Donbas separatists stated that he lives “on a military salary and pension.”

“I left Donbas because I was given some conditions,” said the ex-head of the Ministry of Defense in Donetsk, complaining at the time that he was not receiving money for his “service.”

At the end of January, a former FSB agent said that the deliveries of Leopard 2 and Abrams announced by the West are only the beginning of Ukraine’s formation of a brigade or even a “tank army” in the coming months, which will create serious problems for the invading forces as the equipment of the Russian fighting forces is inferior to those that will end up in possession Kyiv.
