The US Civil Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that it has issued take-off and landing orders for aircraft at three airports to “support the Department of Defense in national security efforts.”
These are the airports of Wilmington in North Carolina, Myrtle Beach and Charleston in South Carolina.
The American media, interpreting this statement, suggests that an operation to shoot down a Chinese spy balloon is inevitable. However, the Pentagon declined to comment on the FAA’s statement, saying only that it continues to monitor the balloon’s flight path.
