
Hundreds of thousands of Syrians fled to Lebanon when civil war broke out in their country in 2011. According to the authorities, there are about 2 million refugees in Lebanon. Of these, 830,000 are registered with UN agencies. In early December, UNHCR called for assistance for displaced Syrians, as well as vulnerable Lebanese citizens, as the country is facing an unprecedented socio-economic crisis.
