Russia is preparing for a new offensive against Ukraine, as the generals plan to throw thousands of soldiers into the “mill” of war, a source at the headquarters of the Russian military group fighting in Ukraine told Novaya Gazeta Europa, Meduza notes.
The source of the weekly “Novaya Gazeta Evropa” did not specify in which direction Russia will start its offensive.
Experts interviewed by the newspaper believe that Russian troops may try to move the front line away from Donbas and Crimea, regions illegally annexed by Russia, and launch an offensive in the Zaporizhia region or in the direction of the Volyn region in the northwest of the country, on the territory of Belarus.
According to the source of Novaya Gazeta Evropa, Russian generals are ready to “chop” tens of thousands of soldiers on the order of the supreme commander, not taking into account the obvious danger of the new maneuver. assesses a source from the headquarters of the Russians.
“Ukrainians receive absolutely accurate data about all our movements from Western special services,” says the interlocutor.
“It is impossible to get enough forces in a certain area without exposing them to HIMARS and long-range artillery,” the source said.
Among other problems of the new Russian offensive, the quoted source mentioned the difficulty of conquering new territories and cities, their further maintenance, as well as the inevitable stretching of the front line and the difficulties associated with the supply of food and ammunition.
“As a result of the attacks, instead of settlements, we have a destroyed landscape with remnants of a population that hates us. Enemy subversive and reconnaissance groups operate in the captured territories. They stab in the back, aim with artillery, and mine the roads. In such a situation, it is possible to hold the front only at the cost of huge losses,” the Russian military noted.
