Lifting the immunity of two MEPs will contribute to the expansion of the investigation of the Belgian authorities.

Coccolino, according to a document received yesterday by the European Parliament, is suspected by the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office of receiving money in exchange for blocking resolutions that harm the interests of non-EU countries.

As noted, in one of the two reports put to a vote today as part of the process to lift the immunity of Coccolino and Marc Tarabella, prosecutors believe that he “won certain positions in the European Parliament in favor of a third country in exchange for cash.”
