Patrik Muratoglu began coaching Holger Rooney after Simona Halep was suspended for doping, but their deal expired after the 2023 Australian Open. Ranked 9th in the ATP rankings, the Dane provided new details about his collaboration with the 52-year-old technician.

A day before Rune was eliminated from the Australian Open (he was beaten in dramatic fashion by Andriy Rublev), Muratoglu declined to provide details on the new deal but hinted that they would continue to work together.
