The American manufacturer General Atomics has offered to sell two Reaper MQ-9 combat drones to Ukraine for one dollar, The Wall Street Journal reports.
At the same time, the preparation of drones for combat operations and transportation will cost Kyiv about ten million dollars, and technical maintenance – almost another eight million dollars per year. In addition to drones, the Ukrainian military will receive a ground station for controlling drones.
General Atomics CEO Linden Blue made this offer to Ukraine’s military attache in Washington last week, Rosbalt and Rador cite.
The White House declined to comment, as did the Ukrainian side. According to Rosbalt, General Atomics offers Ukraine an older version of the Reaper – MQ-9A Block 1, which costs several million dollars per piece.
