As you probably know, Lamborghini will become a manufacturer of 100% electric cars, as will most brands in the next few years.
The manufacturer reported this directly last year when it also announced this its first 100% electric model will appear in 2028. However, in the upper echelons of the Sant’Agata Bolognese firm, the idea is to create a new family of models, not to replace the famous Aventador, Huracan and other Urus.
According to Ruan More, CTO of Lamborghini, “Electric cars are necessary, but with modern technologies, we cannot think of completely abandoning heat engines.”
The technology is not yet “ripe” for Lamborghini
That statement sounds more like good news for fans of shiny heat engines, especially since Taurus has built its legend around its famous V12s, which are as exciting as they sound.
“We believe that the time has not yet come for the transition to pure electric sports cars”Ruan More said “And we also don’t think that five or six years from now will be the right time. We want to make models that work well, but we don’t want them to be too heavy. We also don’t want performance to depend too much on battery level and temperature. ยป
The first electric Lamborghini will be a 2+2 coupe
But then, what should we expect from Lamborghini in the coming years? The brand is apparently working on a replacement for the Aventador, which according to the first published photos will still have Lamborghini attributes. even if it is a hybrid. The brand’s first electric car will not be a supercar, strictly speaking, but rather a 2+2 coupe designed for more everyday use.
“Cars intended for daily use are different from supercars”said Ruan More. “Today there would already be a place for an electric Lamborghini, but we have to wait for the right moment to bring it to market.. Our customers expect something exceptional from us that they won’t be able to find from another manufacturer.”
“For the moment, we believe that for the segment of supercars and sports cars, the internal combustion engine with a hybrid module remains the best choice”, – concluded Ruan More. In all cases we will have a first look at the first electrification in Lamborghini with the Aventador replacement which will be presented in a few weeks.
