Lawsuit for the Eye: “My parents sacrificed themselves for the sake of children”

There is no end to the shocking testimonies of those who have survived Biblical catastrophe in Matiwho speak with court for their tragedy, loss of one’s own people and for her cover operation which was organized to hide the responsibilities of those in charge.

The rescue of two small children by their grandparents, who selflessly protected them from a fire, was the main topic of yesterday’s meeting, where parents of shocked children came to testify what they had experienced. The first to testify was the grandmother of the surviving children, and the grandfather did not survive after 145 days in intensive care. HOUR Elizabeth Spiridis weeping, she told the court how she and her husband had become a shield for their two grandchildren to save them from the flames at Mati. “Thank God, we saved the children, this is the main thing,” the witness said, adding that her husband spent 145 days in intensive care. “It was horror, it was hell,” he said, describing how they hugged the children and ran towards the sea. “Grandfather had a grandson, and I have Elizabeth. One child at a time to protect them. We burned until we reached the sea. The heat has overtaken us. Nobody notified us.”

The witness went on to describe her tragic experience and mentioned their attempt to escape when they entered the sea and with great difficulty managed to get to a hotel in the area and from there to the hospital.

On the same wave, the statements of the parents of the rescued children moved, while their grandfather died, speaking with tenderness about his self-sacrifice and his heroism in the name of saving the children, with which his face “shone”, as his daughter-in-law told when he was hospitalized with burns to the intensive care unit, where he expired.

“Thank God, we saved the children, this is the main thing,” a witness told the court about the fire in Mati, who saw her husband “leave” after 145 difficult days in intensive care.

“Two black things…”

From the side Konstantinos Spyridis he spoke of the great efforts of his parents in saving his children, describing the scene when he saw the children being burned in the hospital. “They were two black things. But at that time I saw two angels. It was enough for me that they were alive…” he said excitedly and added: “My parents really sacrificed themselves to save the children.” The witness testified that in the “Annunciation” he saw images reminiscent of a “war scene”.

“My father burned out. My son’s legs, elbows and ears were burned. That is, in all the places where grandfather could not protect him. The father took over the entire heat load. It was then that I realized what these people went through,” he said in shock. The witness then referred to the ensuing “Golgotha” to restore the health of his children and parents. “My father didn’t have time. My mother managed to visit with us,” he said, noting that “there was no notification. Nobody knew anything.”

The trial will continue next Thursday.
