Barbora Krejchikova and Kateryna Sinyakova will no longer compete in future tournaments

Australian Open champions for the second year in a row Krejcikova and Siniakova announced that they will focus on singles.

Barbora (currently ranked 30th in the WTA rankings) has already tasted success after winning Roland Garros 2021, while Kateryna’s best ranking was 31st (October 2018).

“Now we will both play singles to try to improve. At some point we will play another tournament together. We will just focus on each tournament. Then we will see what the future will bring us” – Barbora Krejchikovaquoted by WTA Insider.

Barbora Krejcikova and Kateryna Siniakova triumphed together at Roland Garros (2018, 2021), Wimbledon (2018, 2022), US Open (2022) and Australian Open (2022, 2023). They also won gold at the Tokyo Olympics (2020) and won the Tournament of Champions (2021).

Barbora Krejchikova explains why she has such a good team with Kateryna Siniakova

“I try to score the point as best as possible, so that Katka (Sinyakova) has the best opportunity to finish with a free kick. This is my goal.

When I serve, I try to make the serve as good as possible so that it has as many chances as possible to make an easy shot and finish it. When I’m at the bottom line, it’s the same, I just find a solution to keep her out of trouble.

It is more difficult with reflexes. She is near the net, so the ball comes to her twice as fast as to me from behind” – Barbora Krejchikova.
