The violent political confrontation continues to be fueled by revelations of relations between organized crime figures and police officers. Government spokesman Yiannis Oikonomou yesterday left open all possibilities for the government leadership to appeal on this issue, stressing that “EL.AS. it should show better results, and I think we all demand faster results.”

PASOK accused the political leadership of the Ministry of Citizens’ Protection, which in a statement attributed to it “a politically inexplicable attitude towards the non-disclosure of all organized chain routes and high-profile individuals who, through their specific role, contributed to the creation of a long-standing criminal organization within the state.”
