Brasov surgeon Sorin Balos was sentenced by the Brasov court to 2 years and 11 months of suspended imprisonment with 4 years of supervision for receiving bribes from patients, reports Agerpres.

Brasov surgeon Sorin Baloš was caught red-handed at the beginning of November 2021 in a private clinic in Brasov while accepting a bribe for open-heart surgery.

“Sentence of the defendant Baloš Sorin to 2 years and 3 months of imprisonment for committing the crime of bribery (3 material documents relating to the patients Voikulescu Doina, Geatsi Minodora and Preda Eftinia). On the basis of Art. 62 of the Criminal Code, applies to the defendant Balosh Sorin, in addition to imprisonment and a criminal fine of 14,000 lei (200 days of fine x 70 lei/day). On the basis of Article 66, paragraph 1, letter a, b, g of the Criminal Code, applies to the accused an additional punishment in the form of a ban on the right to be elected to state authorities or to any other state positions, the right to hold positions related to the implementation state authority, the right to practice the profession of a doctor in state hospital departments, with the exception of emergency situations, within 1 year, under the conditions stipulated by Article 68 of the Criminal Code. On the basis of Art. 65 of the Criminal Code, applies to the defendant an auxiliary punishment in the form of a ban on exercising the rights provided for in part 1 of Article 66. a, b, g of the Criminal Code (the right to be elected to state authorities or to any other state position, the right to hold a position that provides for the exercise of state power, the right to practice the profession of a doctor in state hospital departments, with the exception of emergency situations), for the period and under the conditions provided for in part 3 of Article 65 of the Criminal Code. 2”, This is stated in the decision of the Tribunal, published on the court portal.
