The Central District Military Court sentenced Vladyslav Borysenko, a resident of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District, to 12 years in prison for a “terrorist act” in the case of setting fire to a military supply point in Nizhnevartovsk, TASS reports.

20-year-old Borysenko, who was found guilty of the “terrorist attack”, must also pay a fine of six thousand rubles.

This is the first sentence in Russia for a “terrorist act”, which is considered to be the burning of the willow tree.

In May 2022, charges were brought against two men – Vladyslav Borysenko and Vasyl Havrylyshen – in the case of the arson of the Military Commissariat in Nizhnyovartovsk.

At that time, the mass media reported that seven or eight “Molotov cocktails” were thrown into the building of the Military Commissariat, after which a fire broke out. No one was hurt.

Gavrylyshen claimed that he threw Molotov cocktails at the Military Commissariat building, while Borysenko filmed the video.

Initially, the case of setting fire to the Military Committee was classified as property destruction and hooliganism, but at the end of December, the court decided to change the legal qualification in the case of the defendants to a terrorist attack, which provides for imprisonment for 12 to 20 years.
