Poland is ready to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets in coordination with NATO, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said in Telegram, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

“Discussions regarding the acquisition of F-16 fighters are ongoing. We have positive signals from Poland, which is ready to pass them on to us in coordination with NATO. Tanks and fighter jets are a great company for turning Russian hostilities into fertilizer,” Yermak wrote.

In turn, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a briefing on January 30 that Poland can supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets if NATO supports such a decision.

“As was the case a few months ago with MiGs, any other air assets will be deployed and possibly transferred in coordination with NATO countries. Here we will act in full coordination,” said Mateusz Morawiecki.

And the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Wopke Hoekstra, told the parliament of his country that Mark Rutte’s government will consider the possibility of sending F-16s to Ukraine, if Kyiv requests it. “We are open, there are no taboos,” he said.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said on Friday that it will take Ukrainian pilots “about six months” to master the F-16 multirole fighter.

Poland was also one of the first countries to promise to send German Leopard 2 tanks, even if Germany was not determined to give the green light to such a move.

Later, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz officially stated that he was sending Leopard 2 tanks and did not prevent other states from sending them in turn.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz has repeatedly emphasized in recent days that Germany will not send fighter jets to Ukraine.
