OUR Ukraine plans to spend $545 million per buy drones (UAV) this year, the country’s defense minister said on Monday.
In his Facebook post, Mr. Alexey Reznikov noted: “The development of the Ukrainian UAV market is one of the key areas for the Ministry of Defense.”
“Following consultations with the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense concluded sixteen contracts with domestic UAV manufacturers,” he added.
“We will increase UAV purchases for the Defense Forces in 2023 and plan to spend approx. 20 billion (in Ukrainian currency),” he said.
The announcement comes as Ukraine continues to face Russian missile attacks and renewed calls for Western aircraft and long-range missile systems.
