“We are not afraid of them, and the fact that we do not answer them in the same language does not mean that we are afraid of them, but that we are a democratic European country with self-confidence,” the message says. Volos to Turkey as Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias during his speech to a New Democracy audience hosted by DEEP of Magnesia.
He said that “we don’t believe that democracies do propaganda, but they practice the truth. Greece is an open, sociable, prosperous and developing country and does not need insults. Greece must fulfill its role as an energy center, its role as a center of culture and civilization in our wider region.”
Foreign Minister Explains Greece’s Choice to Support Audience Ukraine stating that “our choice to support Ukraine is based on the fact that Greece has international law as an absolute choice. You are either for international law or against it. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states is black or white for Greece, you either respect territorial sovereignty or you don’t. The strong cannot oppress the weak. And next to us is a big, daring and revisionist neighbor. A neighbor who thinks she can interpret Treaties and such as she pleases and impose the Law of the Strong on her neighborhood with comical idioms like the Blue Country. If Greece at any moment relativizes its presence in the international arena, it actually pledges its position, its interests, its ideology and, ultimately, its existence. That’s why we have to stick to our own rules and we won’t have to apologize to anyone for that.”
“The last three and a half years have been very difficult. There was an unprecedented element in them, because with Turkey we had many crises in the past, now the difference of the last period is that this crisis is permanent. We have three and a half years of crisis, which is constantly escalating. Every day is worse than the previous one, but on the other hand, things are heard worse and more dangerous than the day before. During these three and a half years we have been called upon to resist the oppressive revisionism that is overflowing, and we always respond with calmness and stability. We have entered neither a competition of threats nor a competition of insults, we have formulated a multi-level strategy with one main guideline. We respect international law as gospel, and based on that we have formed public diplomacy, economic diplomacy, environmental diplomacy, and we have taken initiatives at all levels and in all sectors and tried to talk to as many states of this planet as possible.”
He also referred to upcoming elections and he said “we will widen the gap because we are a real people’s party, because we have supported the farmer, small and medium and every Greek householder, and Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have autonomy to continue to make Greece a better place.”
