OUR European Union proposed a new round of strict sanctions vs Belarus for her supporting role in relation to Russia in the context of his invasion of Ukraine, according to documents cited bloomberg.
The proposed measures would bring sanctions against Minsk in line with those already in place against Russia, including restrictions on key technologies and the country’s energy sector.
In particular, the measures include:
– A ban on the export of goods and technologies used for military purposes and capable of increasing the industrial potential of the country.
– Sanctions on oil, coal, steel products and gold
– Commercial restrictions on luxury goods, investments, and the provision of certain services
– Measures that will affect the country’s aviation and energy sectors and other key sources of income
– Similar to the sanctions imposed on Russia, the proposals include exemptions for pharmaceuticals, agricultural and food products, and related financial transactions involving persons under sanctions.
The law will also allow the EU to prosecute anyone who helps circumvent sanctions imposed on Belarusian individuals and legal entities.
