Today, electric cars are increasingly popular among motorists, while in December they accounted for 13% of registrations. The indicator is constantly growing, logically to the detriment of other types of fuel. Indeed, according to recent data, sales of connected vehicles have even surpassed sales of diesel models. A trend that should be confirmed for months and years, while the state authorities do everything to discourage motorists from buying this type of fuel. And it seems to be generally working, as the report published shows UFIP Energy and Mobility (French Union of the Petroleum Industry), which unites French energy companies.
The French are punished by supply interruptions at service stations.
Therefore, the Government continues the discount of 30 centimes/l at gas stations until mid-November.@TotalEnergies also extends its discount of 20 centimes/l for the same period. pic.twitter.com/u7EdYWGliB

Visible disappointment
According to this report, motorists used more fuel in 2022 than in 2021, despite government orders and, above all, despite strikes and other shortages. However, the French bought less diesel than before, and deliveries of the latter fell by 0.5%. At the same time, those with unleaded fuel increased by 10.6%. However, diesel still retains a larger share of fuel supply at 73.5%, down 2% from last year. It should be noted that supplies have returned to pre-health crisis and Covid-19 levels.
What are the reasons?
But then what explains this dislike of motorists to diesel, which was praised from all sides even a few years ago? The traffic restrictions from EPZ I guess that has to do something as well as the price at the pump. And it is not for nothing that a liter of diesel fuel has been higher than unleaded fuel for several months. Now it remains to be seen whether the discount affected the consumption of diesel fuel. This should be visible in the next UFIP report.
I am introducing a bill aimed at reducing gasoline taxes in the face of record high fuel prices and taxing oil company dividends.
A few days before the big holidays, this is an important topic for the French. pic.twitter.com/84UlSqaEBM
