A major discovery of four pharaonic tombs and a more than 4,000-year-old mummy was announced today in Saqqara, near Cairo, Egypt.

In particular, at the Saqqara Necropolis, famous for the famous Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser, archaeologists have unearthed these sealed tombs from the 5th and 6th Dynasties, from 2500 to 2100 BC.

These deep depressions, decorated with colorful scenes from everyday life, were the last refuge of Khnumzenedev, the high priest of Pharaoh Unas, whose decorated pyramid stands nearby, Mary, the keeper of royal secrets, Messi, the high priest of the pharaoh. During excavations at a depth of 15 meters, archaeologists found a limestone sarcophagus “in the same condition in which the ancient Egyptians left it 4,300 years ago,” Hawass said.

When they opened it, they found a gold-covered mummy, “one of the oldest and best preserved in Egypt, with the exception of royal mummies,” the archaeologist explained.

The Saqqara Necropolis, located just over 15 km south of the famous pyramids of Giza, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as is the Pyramid of Djoser, built around 2700 BC. designed by the architect Imhotep, it is considered one of the oldest monuments on earth.

Egypt has made many big announcements in recent months, mostly in Saqqara, but also in Luxor. The day before yesterday, on Tuesday, Cairo announced that it had discovered in this southern Egyptian city the legendary Thebes of the pharaohs, the ruins of “an entire Roman city” dating back to the first centuries after Christ.
