UEFA decided to move the European Super Cup from Kazan to Athens, and the reaction of the Russian Football Federation (RFF) did not take long.
The UFR criticized UEFA’s decision and emphasized that the city of Kazan has “colossal experience” in holding international tournaments of the highest level.
“The decision to move the European Super Cup from Kazan in the context of removing our clubs and teams from international competitions was expected and has nothing to do with sports.
Now we are focusing our efforts on returning Russian football to the system of international competitions,” – Football Federation of Russia for Sport-Express.
The European Super Cup will take place on August 16 at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus (Olympiakos team arena).
In addition, due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, last year’s Champions League final was moved from St. Petersburg to Paris.
