It’s an initiative he first launched last year, promising to establish an annual basis for speaking with heads of diplomatic departments and hearing their views on the missions they serve.

“I am especially pleased that we are given the opportunity to hold this second online meeting. I found our discussion last year extremely productive. I was able to communicate with you directly, exchange thoughts, but above all, hear very interesting opinions and proposals from you,” the Prime Minister emphasized at the beginning of the teleconference, the purpose of which is closer coordination with the leaders of the authorities for better promotion of national goals and positions.

“My vision is a dynamic and open Greece that will be an equal international interlocutor and will promote development with initiatives and actions, but above all with dynamism and self-confidence,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

In this context, he noted that it is now clear from his contacts with foreign leaders and business representatives that the positive image of Greece is being strengthened and the belief that our country has turned the page.

Referring to international calls which Greek diplomacy is called upon to face, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Greece’s strong support for Ukraine, stressing that Russia’s unjustified invasion constitutes a violation of international law at the expense of a sovereign state that is fighting for its territorial integrity and independence.

He also noted that Greece, which often receives threats regarding its sovereignty and sovereign rights, cannot but support Ukraine, sending a clear signal that the international community cannot, under any circumstances, tolerate revisionism and wrongdoing.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the initiatives taken by our country to mitigate the consequences of the energy crisis caused by the war, both at the European and regional levels. He focused on revitalizing energy diplomacy, which has helped transform Greece into an energy security provider and energy exporter for the states of Southeast Europe, taking advantage of the strategically important infrastructures being developed for LNG supply and power generation.

As for her Turkeynoted that 2022 was a difficult year for bilateral relations. He reiterated that Greece wants good relations with the neighboring country, based on international law, but does not intend to engage in dialogue with the absurd.
