Karen Khachanov reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open for the first time after Sebastian Korda was injured and had to retire in the third set.
Karen Khachanov, in the semi-finals after eliminating Sebastian Korda
Sebastian, the son of Petr Korda (the winner of the Grand Slam in Melbourne in 1998), fought evenly with Khachanov in the first part of the match.
With the Russian leading 7-6(5), 6-3, 3-0, the American athlete thought he could no longer continue the game due to problems with his right wrist, which also bothered him during the second set ( balance was disturbed according to the score 3-3).
Know:
- Khachanov (seeded 18th) will fight for a place in the final action with the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (3rd favorite) and Czech Jiri Legechka (71 ATP).
- Karen reached the semifinals of the Grand Slam tournament for the second time in her career (she also managed to do it at the US Open 2022).
I wish you all the best, Sebastian Korda ❤️
