“The operation lasted 24 hours and 15 minutes, during which the surgical toilet of the replanted limb was restored and the functional reconstruction of the posterior muscle part of the lower leg was carried out through motor-innervated muscle-tendon transmission, neurotization of the external muscle part. , (partial) covering of skin defects with a sensitive innervated skin-fascial flap. Both tissue transplants were performed using microsurgical methods,” doctor Sidonia Suzanou, chief physician of plastic surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive microsurgery and coordinator of the department of plastic surgery at the Santa Maria Children’s Hospital in Iasi, told News.ro.

The doctor specified that the intervention began on Saturday at 10 a.m. and ended on Sunday at 10:15 a.m., and there were five plastic surgeons, an orthopedist, and two anesthesiologists in the operating room.

“Immediately after the operation, the child was extubated, her general condition is very good,” Sidonia told Susan.
