A few days before his death, Mr. David Crosby according to the musicians who worked with him, he was preparing a new album and planned to go on tour again.

The founder of Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash has died at the age of 81. Artists who have been recording new music with Crosby told the Variety website that his death came as a big shock as he rehearsed for a new tour. “We were talking about commuter buses and what kind of stops we were going to make, the whole team got back together. There was not the slightest thought that we could not conquer the world. And it’s a pity that people didn’t hear the result,” guitarist Steve Postell said.

Postel stated that he spoke to Crosby on the phone the day he died, and they rehearsed together the week before he died. “He showed us new songs. He wrote, acted, sang and produced a fantastic show. That’s what he did. He hasn’t been in bed for two years. It didn’t happen at all.” And he added: “He was weak because of different situations, everyone knew this … but he did not die. We rehearsed, we went out to eat.”

Sarah Yarosh, who was recording for Crosby’s next untitled album, said she was also unaware of the illness. “Every time we talked, he called and to the question “what are you doing?” jokingly replied: “I’m dying.” It was definitely a big shock,” he told Variety.
Yarosh also said that their then-unreleased song “Talk Till Dawn” was “beautiful”. “I feel like his voice has gotten better and better. Over time, he developed wealth, and his performance, even in this song, was so sincere.”

Crosby has released five studio albums in the last decade of his life, with the latest titled “For Free” due out in July 2021.

He announced that he had retired from touring last year due to age, but tweeted in December that he had changed his mind. “It became even more difficult for him, especially due to arthritis. But he could sing, I don’t know how he did it. It sounded great.”
