Today the 3rd and 12th kindergartens in Eleftherio Cordelio, in the west Thessalonikias on weekends unknown people broke into the premises, stole two computers from the rooms and poured fire-extinguishing material from fire extinguishers into the premises.
In order to clear the kindergarten classrooms of fire extinguisher material and for the safety of young students, the municipal authorities of Cordelio Evosmou, after notifying parents, have decided to suspend classes. At the same time, a police report was filed about the incident.
“There is a lot of delinquent behavior in our school divisions. With the relevant document, we informed both the Evosmos Police Department and the Thessaloniki Police Headquarters with a request to strengthen patrolling. I assume that these are criminals aged 15-16. There is impunity. Some people should be arrested and their parents should be punished,” Giorgos Stavridis, deputy mayor for education and lifelong learning, told APE-MBE.
According to Mr. Stavridis, about 200 locks have been replaced in the area’s schools due to a number of similar incidents. In the latest case of kindergartens in Eleftherio Cordelio, according to the police, there were no signs of forced entry on the doors, and an alarm was installed at the school.
