A medium-sized avalanche took place on Saturday in the Balea area, News.ro reports.
It was a windsurf-like avalanche that was triggered by some skiers in the Balea Valley, in a gorge below the fences located in the western part of the valley, under the Balea Lac caldera. The area is known for frequent avalanches. The avalanche did not cause any casualties. The moment when a layer of snow begins to melt was captured by a photographer and posted on social networks.
Another large avalanche recently descended on the northern slope of the Fagarash Ridge, east of Paltinu Peak.
