“Kathimerini tis Kyriaki” tells what really happened on the island of Evros in August 2022.
In particular, the case of little Mary, who supposedly died helplessly from a scorpion sting, never happened. It was staged at the suggestion of a smuggler as a godsend so that 38 Syrian refugees could easily reach a safe place in Greece.
One of the refugees, who belonged to a group of 38 stranded on August 15, 2022, describes a journey that started from Syria and ended after many detours on the island of Evros, on the Greek-Turkish border.
From what he mentions in an interview with K, the movements of the refugees were directed by a remotely paid smuggler through a woman who was on the island and spread information and images on social media.
She, he claims, also passed on the order to stage, even with makeup, the death of a five-year-old girl.
