The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, congratulated Ukrainians on the Day of Unity, expressing his belief that Ukraine will win the war started by Volodymyr Putin almost a year ago.

The invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022 led to a “new revival of our Ukrainian unity,” Zelenskyy said in an emotional video, dpa writes. Millions of people in Ukraine united today to defend their country, the Kyiv leader added.

“Each area protects the other. (…) And we all defend Kyiv together. And we all protect Kharkiv together. And we are all liberating Kherson together,” the Ukrainian president said. The city of Kherson is under the control of Ukraine, but a large part of the region of the same name is under the occupation of Russian troops, dpa reminds.

“And we will win. Together. And all of Ukraine will hear the sounds of victory,” Zelensky said, once again insisting that all of Ukraine will be liberated, including the Crimean peninsula, illegally annexed by Moscow in 2014.

On January 22, the country celebrates the Day of the Assembly of Ukraine, the day of the proclamation of the Act of the Union of the Ukrainian People’s Republic (Ukrainian People’s Republic) with the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic (1919). (Source: Agerpres)
