The Metropolitan Opera in New York has scheduled a concert for February 24, the anniversary of the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine, dpa reports.
The orchestra, led by the Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Seguin, will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Requiem” and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.
Several Ukrainian artists will also perform at the concert, MET Opera reported on Friday.
In memory of the innocent victims of the war, Mozart’s “Requiem” show will be performed, and in anticipation of the upcoming victory, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony will be played, said the general manager of the famous New York institution Peter Gelb, clarifying that there will be an interpretation of the national anthem of Ukraine.
Last year, the Manhattan Opera House organized a concert to raise funds for victims of the war in Ukraine and announced that it will no longer work with artists or institutions that support President Vladimir Putin in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .Agerpress)
