Some hot topics in the press recently made me try a slightly more accessible solfeggio score, according to which two key institutions of the Romanian public space create harmony. In any modern democratic society, the public administration and the university are the seat of the elite. Why Romania otherwise? Or more precisely, how can Romania refuse synchronization under the conditions of its connection de jure to the European space?

A denial is never consciously perceived by the denied: there is always a compelling reason for prosecution or a network of complicity that can turn the content of any denunciation into a conspiratorial watermark, and there will always be a committee or at least a spokesperson ready. to make it very clear. The Schengen operetta, apart from Austria’s obvious lack of arguments, has something of the whimpering and comical sound of married girls singing under the window. Trapped in the shrill octave of the back of the pub, we’re mad as flies, searching all over Europe to find out what mess we’ve gotten ourselves into. We act as if the well-dressed in Vienna do not understand that the tragedies buried in the dust of the slums are swimming in the juice of a deception that the nation of Nenea Janku has no intention of abandoning by decree. Let’s not roll our eyes, because we are not deceiving the conductor: the European orchestra does not need another plate. For their screamer, they already have someone who improvises by ear. Dressed in a pianist’s tuxedo, our drummer clumsily plays the keys, his brash casualness unable to hide his lack of fingers. I don’t want to be misunderstood: I can’t judge the cut of our home secretary’s coat (I have no experience in this field), but it’s obvious that he doesn’t have enough piano lessons for a full concert in Brussels. Of course, now is not the best time to look for the culprits, even if they have a name and you can even see how they pocket every penny from the budget salaries. But how blind do we have to be not to see that “Educated Romania” has serious academic and political identity problems? In a country full of PhDs, there is no shortage of authoritative voices. We have only started talking about the authority of these voices and the consequences of decisions now – when universities have discovered plagiarism of doctoral theses and the Government is stuck with so many clueless PhDs.

The history of plagiarism makes me remember an obscure passage from Ambrose of Milan (excerpt from Commentary on the Gospel from Luke Book III, 17-23) – in which he defends the Church, explaining how this can be the meretrix caste (“the sinless whore”). We are all convinced (at least statistically) that Romania is full of corrupt people and sinners (we accuse it of meretrix satis impudentissima “shameless harlot”), on the other hand, we find no fault in her (the meretrix caste), when we mourn his unjust fate in Europe. Before you gobble up the disgusting lack of patriotism you see here with proletarian rage, I suggest you answer a few simple questions in the quiet of your own living room: Is your mechanic stealing from you when you fix your limousine or not? Did you pay for “insured” medical services or not? If you answered yes, we can move on to something more personalized: have you participated or not (from any position) in public contests “committedly”? Of course, the list can be continued with questions that may even be offensive – but not so here, because intellectuals are known to be sensitive to hints. And not rarely, rather cowardly.

Now, if these practical aspects of the instruction manual of “Educated Romania” have been cleared up a bit, it remains to be seen whether there is not a significant correlation (I use this expression deliberately from scientific studies) between plagiarized PhD theses (not only PhD theses). officials) and at least questionable political, administrative and diplomatic actions of our officials here or elsewhere in Europe? Someone may jump to the conclusion from this that the administrator of our block needs a doctorate to keep the bookkeeping in order. Read the whole article and comment on contributors.ro
