Joseni commune in Harghita is one of the “poles of cold”. First, on January 18, 2023, the January heat record of +12 C, set in 1925, was broken, and then again on January 19 (+13.4 C). And in other cold places there were absolute records: Merkurya-Chuk (+15) and Intorsura-Buzeului (+15.5 C). The maximum values of the period in these settlements were about -2, -1 C.
And in Brasov, the old record of January 9, 2010, when it was +14.7 C, was significantly exceeded. On Thursday, it was +17 degrees. Also impressive is the new record from Sinai, height 1500, +16.4 C, which is two degrees higher than the previous record.
The temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius in January is 15-17 degrees above normal and is the maximum that is usually observed after April 20. The difference is that in April, if it is +21°C at noon, the minimum is 6-8°C, while in Bucharest Băneasa, where it was +20.9°C at noon, the minimum on the night of January 19 was +1. 6 S.
In conditions of a much warmer climate after April 20, the temperature in the south of the country was above +32, and in the mountains above +25, Winter is like spring, and spring is like summer…
However, there were also extremely high lows: +14.7 C in Giurgiu and +14 C in Zimnica, overnight lows that can be seen in these cities even on the cooler nights of July!
