“You better listen with your heart…”

Freud argued that fairy tales come from dreams, dream fantasies that are driven by subconscious thoughts or repressed desires. Gary’s story acrobats between dream and reality, between logic and fantasy.

Tassulu, a journalist, energetic and creative, is being asked to write an article about Superman on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of its creation, as the project intended. However, this idea does not charm her at all, and she reacts.

Superman doesn’t exist, does it? People don’t fly, do they?

Then a picture falls into her hands: “Whoever loses, that donkey, and other children laugh at him.” And she, as a journalist seeking the truth and upholding justice, begins to ask and learn as much as possible about donkeys, whose history goes back exactly sixty million years. She dreams of writing an animal column someday until a group of donkeys come to her office to tell her Gary’s story. Gary doesn’t exist, does he? Donkeys don’t fly, do they?

But life is essentially “made” to surprise us! Garis, the hero of the play, is a donkey, an animal offended and offended by both people and other animals. Its difference is that the difficulties that he goes through in life do not frighten him, but teach him the measure of his strength. He is always accompanied by his mother’s advice: to be fair to animals and people and to be kind. To love and show your love, “because love is like a clover: you plant a few seeds and it will grow and grow and fill the whole field.” And then, magically, his life changes. He understands that he can fly!

His superpower is activated only through empathy: he accepts the dreams and experiences of others according to their true weight, tries to weigh things with the carat of the heart, and not with suspicion, luck, coincidence or self-interest. Through songs, dances and euphoria… of shrimp, on the strings of his past difficulties and pains, all the holidays and happiness are built, which stem from his ability to change the world, starting from his heart.

And who better than animals will confirm this to those who watch the series? Sheep, dog, owl, pig, chickens, cat, fox, goat, rat, hare and many donkeys tell their own story and eventually reveal their character.

The presence of so many animals in the show allows you to directly influence the psyche of the child. Values and lessons are gently and effortlessly instilled in children.

Animals are known to be an important guide in the lives of children and allow them to easily identify with their characters and stories, recognize their own feelings or internal conflicts. Thus, the presence of so many animals in the performance allows you to directly address the child’s psyche. Values and important lessons are gently and effortlessly instilled in children.

How to show your love, how to be yourself, how you can belong to yourself and others, what does it mean to liberate, how dangerous it is to care only about the opinions of others, how not to be defined by others, how unique are the problems and solutions to each of them, how can one “listen”? “You better listen with your heart…” exclaims Garis. After all, we win life not only with knowledge and education, but with directness, giving, tender determination and a big heart.

So, the question Garis asks young and old is this: Is there anything your own heart yearns for? Are you one of those who stood up for this cause in body and soul? Can something make you “fly”? Donkey finally “flies”? Here, check yourself and answer. Garis and all his animal friends are waiting for you at the Royal Theatre!
