Completion of the role of “Dia-zoma” and its leader, Stavros Benuin Evia reconstruction program Yesterday marks the presentation of the master plan to the Prime Minister. Now responsible for monitoring and implementing the program “Evia after” belongs to a government committee established for this purpose, headed by a deputy minister next to the prime minister, Christos Triandopoulos. The first news from the “front” is the beginning of research in the spring for the largest project of the program – a new axis of the road from Psakhna to Istia.

The strategic planning study was presented yesterday by Stavros Benos, head of the Northern Evia Reconstruction Committee. “I briefed the Prime Minister on the three pillars of the program” explains “K”. “Firstly, the value environment of the program, which was based on volunteering and research preparation by sponsors and corporate members of Diazoma. Secondly, the master plan, which is a synthesis of the dreams of the inhabitants, scientifically and politically evaluated and turned into 71 projects that can be funded by the EU. with 400 million euros. It should be noted that 30 projects are already included in the new NSDP, and the rest will be included during 2023. Third, what are we doing now. My mission has been completed and is now being taken over by the appropriate government committee. We will remain an unpaid consultant, helping where needed.”

On this occasion, two news were announced about the most important projects of the reconstruction program, namely the creation of a new road axis that will break the isolation of Northern Evia. By the end of April, the first contract is expected to be signed for the study of the Psachni-Strofilia section. “If all goes well, then in the summer of 2024 the project included in the new NSRF will also be put up for auction,” says Mr. Benos. “However, the development of the rest, from Strofilia to Istiea, is included in the NSRF 2014-2020 and a tender will be announced soon, as well as the development of the five connecting branches of the axis. This is a very important development, as a mature study will be carried out for the entire road axle in a year.” As regards financing for the construction of the Strofilia-Istiaia section, which was not included in the new PSRP, Mr. Benos is optimistic. “I believe that in a few years we will need to master the community funds, and this opportunity will present itself,” he said.

As for the most important, according to Mr. Beno, reform of the program, which concerns the regular clearing of new forest from biomass, this is now also being implemented. “KoinSep will be created, which will create an economically viable activity that will contribute to the protection and conservation of the forest,” he says.

As a reminder, the Evia Meta program is being promoted as an integrated spatial investment with a budget of 390 million euros, of which 230 million euros relate to the section of the Psacsni-Strofilia road axis.
