
ANRE announced on Thursday that it has imposed new fines of 2.4 million lei on electricity distribution network operators for failing to fulfill the obligation to read the electricity meter index within a period not exceeding 3 months in the case of domestic consumers.
This legal obligation is provided for in Art. 45 par. (10) of the Law on Electricity and Natural Gas No. 123/2012 with subsequent changes and additions.
After the completion of the control actions, the inspectors found frequent exceeding of the 3-month interval for reading the indicator of the electricity metering group, fines for violations were applied to all verified distribution operators:
- Muntenia E-Distribution – 400,000 lei
- E-Distribution Banat – 400,000 lei
- E-Distribution Dobrogea – 400,000 lei
- Electricity distribution Romania – 400,000 lei
- Oltenia Energy Distribution – 400,000 lei
- Delgaz Grid – 400,000 lei
NARE notes that from December 16, 2022, the fine for non-compliance by the distribution operator with the obligation to read the index of the final household consumer’s metering group with a time interval of a maximum of 3 months has changed and is from 100,000 to 1,000,000 lei.
Penalties for offenses applied by NARE are fully formed as income to the state budget.
