American reality star Kim Kardashian bought the Attallah crucifix, the famous pendant worn by Princess Diana, at an auction in London on Wednesday, Sotheby’s auction house announced, AFP reports.

The Attallah Crucifix, a luxurious pendant made in the 1920s by the great British jeweler Garrard, was worn several times by Princess Diana.

It was sold at an auction organized on Wednesday in the British capital for 163,800 pounds (about 187,000 euros).

The amethyst cross, a type of purple quartz, was bought by a representative on behalf of star Kim Kardashian, Sotheby’s confirmed.

A pendant worn by the princess at a charity gala in London in 1987 sold for more than double its estimated price. The crucifix is ​​decorated with 5.25 carat diamonds.

“Jewellery owned or worn by Princess Diana is rarely available on the market, especially pieces such as the Attalus Crucifix, which is colourful, bold and distinctive,” Christian Spofforth of Sotheby’s said ahead of the sale.

“To some extent, this unusual pendant is symbolic of the princess’s growing confidence in her choice of clothing and jewelry at that particular time in her life,” he added.

Last year, Kim Kardashian, 42, wore the dress Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President Kennedy in 1962 at the famous gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
