The attacker shot the victim with a gun he took from the family’s home in a poor area of the southeastern state of Veracruz.

Two children were playing on a video console rented from a local store in the town of La Perla.

“I only ask for one thing, to help me achieve justice, because my son died because of the parents of this child, who killed my child,” said the mother of the deceased at the funeral on Tuesday, the Reforma newspaper reported.

The aggressor’s parents are responsible for leaving “the gun on the table,” according to the mother, whose name is Letizia, according to Reforma.

The attacker fled with his family.

“It’s sad” that a child has access to weapons, Veracruz state governor Cuitlaoac García commented, saying “there is no doubt that responsibility must be established.”

In the neighboring United States, a six-year-old boy was arrested on January 6 after he shot and seriously injured his teacher in her classroom at a school in eastern Virginia, police said.

The 9mm Taurus pistol was legally purchased by the boy’s mother.

Veracruz is one of the poorest states in Mexico and one of the most violent.
