
A 101-year-old woman from Paskany, sick with COVID-19, was discharged after 10 days of hospitalization. He is the oldest patient being treated at the Sfânta Parascheva Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Iasi, the hospital’s director, Dr. Florin Rocheu, said on Wednesday.
The woman was hospitalized in an infectious disease hospital after confirming a positive result for COVID-19: “The patient was transferred from Pashkan Clinical Hospital to UPU in Sf Spiridon Hospital, where she was consulted cardiologically and the diagnosis of COVID-19 was confirmed. Upon admission, her general condition deteriorated, she was afebrile, conscious, and poorly cooperative. The old woman has acute chronic respiratory failure, chronic heart failure, chronic heart disease and cerebral atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease against a background of respiratory disease. Although she needed oxygen support and co-morbidities could put her at risk, the medical team customized the treatment according to the patient’s needs so as not to interfere with the existing diseases,” said Dr. Florin Rochu, head of the infectious disease hospital. A few days after hospitalization, after the improvement of symptoms, despite advanced age and co-morbidities, the treatment for COVID-19 was successful: “We are satisfied and happy that our patient’s wish is about to be fulfilled. Its members will keep in touch with the attending physician to obtain information about the therapeutic behavior to be followed and the need for follow-up,” explained Dr. Florin Rosu.
