
​Patricia Sieg was eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open by Shuai Zhang (the 23rd favorite), and at the moment there is only one representative of Romania in the women’s singles: Iryna Begu.
China’s Zhang, seeded 23 in Melbourne, won in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-0. The match lasted two hours and 10 minutes. Patricia blamed her health problems during the duel, but decided to bring the dispute to an end.

- Romania has already lost four players from the singles table: Jacqueline Christian, Ana Bohdan, Sorana Kirstea and Patricia Sieg, exiting the Australian Open in the first round.
