The timer could be stopped, like in basketball

Among the solutions to improve the game of football, the meeting in London will discuss the problem of interruptions in matches, writes As.com.

There are three proposals to consider: extra minutes as in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, maintaining and improving the current events, or introducing a timer that stops after each time-out, as in basketball.

At the World Cup in Qatar, FIFA’s director of refereeing, Pierluigi Colina, argued that the loss of actual playing time was a big problem. As a result, there were very long extensions, which surprised and caused doubts.

Successful implementation of a possible change in the rules will take about two years.

IFAB consists of four British associations, each with one vote, plus FIFA, which has four votes. For a proposal to pass, it must have six votes in favor out of a total of eight.
