The Netherlands will send the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, the Dutch news agency ANP reported on Tuesday with reference to Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Reuters notes.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte is currently in Washington for a meeting with US President Joe Biden.
The ANP agency quotes the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, who, in a discussion with Biden in front of the Albp House fireplace, said that his country will participate in the American-German initiative to send air defense systems to Ukraine.
Rutte also stated that he had previously discussed this decision by phone with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as well as with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During the meeting, Biden praised the Netherlands for increasing aid to Ukraine. Instead, Rutte praised the US president for leading international efforts to support Ukraine.
History remembers that “in 2022, if the United States had not intervened like you did, things would have been very different,” Mark Rutte told Joe Biden during a meeting at the White House.
