Wikipedia: The 25 most popular entries of 2022 – what the Greeks were looking for

In 2022, for another year, the readability of the Greek version of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, Wikipedia, has recorded an upward trend.

Last year, the record with the highest number of visits was related to the war in Ukraine, which even exceeded 700,000 views, which is an absolute record.

In second place was an article about Greece, which has a consistently high readership, and in third place was an entry about Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, who has always had a lot of visits, but after her death on September 8, the number of visits increased dramatically.

But the current affairs stories that saw a surge in readership were about NATO (#4), the European Union (#8), Russia (#11), Vladimir Putin (#16), and Vladimir Zelensky (#19).

FIFA World Cup (No. 5) and FIFA World Cup 2022 (No. 6) entries had high and stable traffic from November to mid-December during games in Qatar.

Agios Paisios’ entry at number seven had a high readership during the television series about his life, with a weekly increase each time a new episode aired.

The same goes for George Papandreou (#9) and Kiveli (actor) (#14), who also had a television series about their relationship, and the readability of the records increased each time a new episode aired.

The surge in traffic at the Vice President of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili (No. 10) is associated with her arrest, while the increase in the number of entrances on line 3 (Athens Metro) (No. 15) is associated with the expansion of the line in October.
