Britain will test a cancer vaccine for the first time

The British government recently announced that it has entered into a partnership with BioNTech, the German pharmaceutical company that developed the Covid vaccine with Pfizer, to test a new cancer vaccine as well as others against other serious diseases.

The aim is for around 10,000 British patients to receive the personalized vaccine by 2030. Moreover, their distribution will start from the fall of this year.

The companies Moderna and Merck already announced in December of last year about a number of positive results of trials of a new anti-cancer vaccine. BioNTech was also working on such a vaccine, but the emergence of the Covid pandemic put all efforts on hold.

The vaccine is based on RNA technology and, as noted by the British authorities, it will be personalized. Britain will thus become the first country to trial such a vaccine, and it could be one of the most important medical news of the decade.

A bad mood can be good, at least to a certain extent

Imagine a phone whose performance fluctuates depending on the battery level! It’s not surprising, but that’s how you work. A group of specialists from the USA, the Netherlands and Germany explains this in the specialized journal Frontiers in Communication.

In addition, scientists say that a bad mood can increase the concentration of attention, especially when it comes to the perception of language, written or spoken. For this purpose, they conducted tests on several volunteers, during which they had to watch footage from a sad film or, partially, from a comedy. After that, they were given several tests.

It turned out that those who had a sad movie, respectively, who had a bad mood caused by the images there, were much more attentive to details. Basically, their brains worked according to an analytical scheme, while others did not.

After all, when your wife comes and quarrels with you, she is of course in a very bad state. You, having come from the city with the boys, are in good shape. That’s why she saw all the flaws, and everything seemed beautiful to you. Now it is scientifically explained. It was from the brain.

Take care of your emotions, because you get older faster and uglier!

Who makes a person old? Not only water and soda! It turns out, anxiety, depression and negative emotions too. Please, this is not a big reveal, we all knew that. Except that a team of neuroscientists from the University of Geneva has scientifically shown how it works.

For this purpose, scientists tested several subjects over 65 years old, as well as some around 25 years old, showing them images that cause negative emotions. It turned out that some of the subordinates tend to keep negative emotions longer. In particular, in some of them, the parts of the brain that process emotional stimuli were more activated. And such connections were stronger in individuals with anxiety and negative thoughts.

And these parts of the brain are most affected by dementia, a fact that demonstrates a cause-and-effect relationship. One conclusion would be that the inability to distance oneself from negative thoughts leads to an increased risk of neurodegenerative diseases.

Obviously more research will need to be done before a 100% certain result is found, but basically this is what you need to do to avoid premature aging… less stress! We know this is useless advice, you knew it too, but look, the doctor recommends it too.
